About the exchange rate
Please note: For those paying by bank transfer, it is important to note that many banks around the world are not using the offical currency exchange rate for the Icelandic Krona (ISK). Those who wish to pay by bank tranfer must use the currency exchange rate posted by the Central Bank of Iceland at www.sedlabanki.is (click on the flag for English). We can not accept any currency rate other than that which is issued by the Central Bank of Iceland.

For those paying by credit card, please contact your bank or credit card company for information about your credit card exchange rate as it may vary between banks.

Any booking made, or order placed by you, whether through the company's website or otherwise, shall be deemed as an offer by you to purchase the relevant package or other holiday arrangement subject to these booking conditions. Booking services with Iceland Visitor are currently only available to persons who are at least 18 years old. By submitting a booking you warrant and confirm to us that you comply with these arrangements.

You can book your tour here.

Payments
Different methods of payment apply depending on travel arrangements and services.

Direct Bookings - (Online)
To pay for services booked directly at Icelandvisitor.com you must be a holder of a valid credit card. Your credit card number is required at the time of booking. In the event that Iceland Visitor is unable to obtain confirmation from the supplier, an alternative will be offered. If the customer does not accept the alternative, or Iceland Visitor is not able to offer an alternative, no charge will be made. You will be notified of the relevant charges prior to issue of a confirmation invoice. If your travel documents are being paid for with a third party credit card we will require written authorisation to be provided by the card holder via fax or letter.

Custom Made Tours and Groups
When booking a custom-made tour or when making a booking for a group of 10 people or more, a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total package price should reach Nordic Visitor at the time of booking. Full payment (less deposit) for groups and individuals should reach Nordic Visitor at least 4 weeks prior to the arrival of the clients, or upon confirmation of booking, if done within 4 weeks. In the case of delayed payment, Nordic Visitor reserves the right to treat this as a cancellation and to withdraw its confirmation of the services. For groups and custom-made tours, Nordic Visitor accepts payment by credit card, certified bank cheque or by electronic bank transfer to our bank account.

Other
If you are not a holder of a valid credit card, or do not want to send your credit card number through the Internet, then you can send your bookings directly to our sales office in Reykjavik, either by fax or e-mail and pay by electronic bank transfer or a certified bank cheque.

Validity of Prices
All rates quoted or shown in our tariffs are based on current prices and are subject to change without notice in the event of currency fluctuation, government taxes, or any such cost increase which is beyond Iceland Visitor's control. Iceland Visitor  reserves the right to notify the customer of any increase to prices already published in our pricelists, brochures or website. Any eventual changes in rates will not be made without at least 8 weeks notice. After the invoice has been issued the price is guaranteed against any surcharge, unless an increase is due to government laws or currency changes. Icealnd Visitor will absorb an amount equivalent to 5% of the package price. Amounts that exceed 5% will be charged; but should the surcharge exceed 10 %, clients will be entitled to cancel their booking with a full refund.

Cancellation
For all cancellations, Nordic Visitor will make every effort to ensure the best protection for the customer. However, late cancellation can result in compensation claims from hotels and other service partners. All cancellations must be in writing, and sent to Nordic Visitor by letter, fax or e-mail. In conformity with business practices within the Nordic travel industry, Nordic Visitor is obliged to charge customers cancellation fees at a percentage of the full price, as follows:

Notice of Cancellation - Individual Customer
More than 2 weeks prior to arrival: 20%
Less than 2 weeks prior to arrival: 50%
Less than 72 hours prior to arrival: 100%

Notice of Cancellation - Groups (10 or More)
More than 4 weeks prior to arrival: 20%
Less than 4 weeks prior to arrival: 50%
Less than 72 hours prior to arrival: 100%

Since cancellation rules for domestic flights, day tours that include flights, and accommodation at the ICE HOTEL are stricter than normal cancellation rules, Nordic Visitor cannot refund any flight that has been booked through our services, or accommodation at the ICE HOTEL.

Note that cancellation by passenger(s) within a group may either result in a price increase for the whole group or a cancellation fee being charged to the passenger(s) who has cancelled.

We strongly recommend that all our clients take out comprehensive travel insurance to avoid dispute in case of cancellation.

Invoice and Voucher Delivery
Invoice and vouchers will be handed over on arrival or sent to the customer. In accordance with mail order regulations, all documents that are posted will be sent to the billing address of the credit card holder, not to the address of the passenger (unless they are one and the same). We strongly recommend that all documents be sent to you by Registered Post or Courier Service to your home, office or departure airport. There is a small additional fee for this service. Documents can be mailed by first class post, but Iceland Visitor cannot accept responsibility for documents mislaid or lost. The credit card used for purchase must be presented when vouchers are collected on arrival.

Liability
Iceland Visitor works as an agent only and therefore disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accident, injury, sickness or schedule change due to weather, strike or any other cause beyond Iceland Visitor's control. Iceland Visitor acts in good faith, and cannot be held responsible for any agent, hotel, coach operator, airline, guide, restaurant or any other person's or companies' acts, defaults or delays. Iceland Visitor reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or departure times, without prior notice, should the necessity arise. In the case of any changes to flights (domestic and international), the passenger is responsible for any additional costs incurred as a result of such changes, (i.e. additional hotel nights, meals, transfers, etc.) at the time provided. We therefore advise all clients to have comprehensive travel insurance to meet all contingencies.

If you are dissatisfied in any way with your stay in Iceland, you must advise Iceland Visitor thereon in writing within 30 days of your return. Otherwise no compensation may be considered.

Car Rental (Terms and Conditions)
Iceland Visitor offers a comprehensive car rental brokering service. Our goal is to offer the best prices and the best service from highly rated and reliable car rental companies. The cars you rent through our service are always new, clean and in excellent condition.

Age Requirement and Driving Licence
Minimum driver age is 20 years and a full driving licence must have been held for at least 12 months. The driving licence must be presented at the start of the rental. If the driving licence is not in Roman alphabet, then an international driving permit (IDP) is needed for translation purposes.

Credit Card
A credit card imprint will be taken at the start of all rentals for security reasons, even when a voucher covers the cost of the rental. Cash and debit card deposits will not be accepted. This credit card imprint may be used to pay all extra charges, including extra driven kilometres, extra insurance, parking fines, damages or any costs due to the car rental company as a result of the hirer's use of the car.

The following credit cards are accepted:  VISA, MASTERCARD, AMERICAN EXPRESS AND DINERS

Pick-up and Drop-off Service
For customers in the Reykjavik area staying at hotels, guesthouses or other accommodation free transfer is offered to and from the rental location. Free transfer is also offered from certain locations in the Reykjavik city centre, and from Reykjavik Domestic Airport. For customers arriving at Keflavík airport, a pick-up and drop-off service is offered at ISK 4.000 additional charge each way.
For a pick-up service, it is essential that Iceland Visitor be given the correct information concerning pick-up location and time, before departure.
If this information is not available at the time of booking, please ensure that you inform us of this at least 3 days prior to departure. If this information is not provided in time, no responsibility will be accepted or compensation considered for a failed rental.

Rental Period
The minimum rental period is one day (24 hours).  The period is calculated from the time the hirer is picked up until the time when the vehicle has been returned to the same location.  If the vehicle is returned 1 hour or more after the designated drop-off time, the car rental company reserves the right to charge an extra day.

Extention of Rental
If you wish to extend the rental period after receiving the vehicle you may only do so by direct arrangement with the supplier. You will be charged by the supplier at the local daily rate, which may be higher that our negotiated rates.

Fuel Tank
Rental rates do not include petrol. The rental car will normally have a full tank of fuel and the car should be refilled before returning it. If the hirer fails to do so a charge will be made for having the tank refilled.

Insurance
Third party liability is equivalent to the amount stipulated by Icelandic law at any given time. This also applies to the amount of individual driver liability.
Third party cover and personal accident insurance is automatically included in your rental.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
CDW is available with each car for an additional fee (included in unlimited mileage).
CDW covers damages to the rental vehicle. It waives liability in case of any damages to the vehicle in excess of ISK 115.000 for 2wd cars and ISK 195.000 for 4wd cars.
CDW does not cover damage caused by negligence, driving while intoxicated, damage to tyres, headlights, wind-screen and the underside of the car, damage caused by loose stones  thrown up at the car from gravel roads or damage to the engine of the car caused by water getting into the motor; please see the full details listed on the back of the rental agreement.

CDW per day ISK.1200-, for 2wd and 4wd

Baby and Child Safety Seats
Safety seats for babies and children are available on request.

Driver's Restrictions
The hirer may not drive 2wd cars into the highlands, or on any off road track.

Cancellations and Amendment Charges
The same cancellation and amendment rules apply to car rentals as to other services on this site.

Value-added Tax (VAT)
All prices mentioned on this site include value-added tax. In Iceland this tax is 24.5%

Rental Documents
The rental voucher must be presented when picking up your rental car. Iceland Visitor cannot be held responsible for rentals rejected if a voucher is not presented. In the case of a lost voucher you must contact Iceland Visitor so that a new voucher can be printed.

Provision of Cars
Suppliers can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is in their opinion unfit to drive, or who does not meet eligibility requirements. In such cases we will endeavour to evaluate each case fairly.

Car Type / Suitability
Iceland Visitor is unable to guarantee a particular make or model of car. The car indicated in your voucher is for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost).

Number of Passengers
Our rental cars are insured for a maximum number of passengers. Iceland Visitor cannot accept responsibility if the vehicle is not large enough to accommodate all passengers and luggage, where correct details were not supplied at the time of booking.

Complaints
If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of the car or the service, you must advise the supplier immediately. You must also advise Iceland Visitor in writing, within 30 days of your return. As a locally operated agency Iceland Visitor is well placed to deal with your complaints. We aim to resolve all complaints promptly.
NOTE: All rentals are subject to the full rental agreement terms and conditions at the time of rental.
